Dear Readers,

It has been an honor to be entrusted to serve as Chief Editor for Indian Journal of Psychiatric Nursing (IJPN) for 10 consecutive years. It has been a pleasure to continue with the traditions and to build on the foundations laid down by the society – ISPN.

Dear friends, it is frequently claimed that quality and competence in psychiatric nursing are vital to the safe, humane provision of healthcare and health service to our populations. It is also recognized, however, that nursing is a costly healthcare resource that must be used effectively and efficiently. However, the evidence-based practice is relevant to the context and discussion regarding the improvement and continuous learning and updating by nursing workforce.

This issue presents recent empirical studies exploring the domains of activity and focus of psychiatric nursing, together with nurses' perceptions of their role and work environment, to connect those findings with core conceptual questions about the nature and function of nursing. Such factors, increasingly common now, make the identification and effective use of the nursing contribution to healthcare an issue of international importance in the mental healthcare service.

The mission of the journal is to serve as a repository of evidence-based research in mental health nursing, especially in the context of a changing and more connected world, it was felt that it is important to establish a dialog with researchers from other parts of India and abroad. The journal, as a conscious policy in recent years, has become more representative of research from all types of settings, different populations and using variety of methods. It has attempted to expand and reach out to other parts of the world

To expand the reach of IJPN, beginning with effect from 2019, after approval of ISPN, IJPN decided to switch over to Wolters Kluwer. This step will achieve the anticipated goals of online submissions and website management system, with more convenience and can connect with readers, with periodic updates sent to authors and reviewers and new issue alerts sent to all registered members.

I request all nursing professionals to contribute articles to IJPN journal in wide world of web. It is because of you dear contributors that we can improve our impact factor and expand our reach.

Dear readers, continuous efforts are done by authors, reviewers, and the editorial team to bring out this 18th issue of ISPN journal, which is presented to you, to enhance evidence-based practice of psychiatric-mental health nursing.

Enjoy reading it.
